Celebrating Libraries

I am sure we have all been to a library before. It might be a National Library or our very own school library. Even the readers' cafe is sort of a mini browsing library. As such, we have many experiences to share. Some might be pleasant while others might not.

Our class will be taking part in the "Celebrating Libraries" project. More information can be found here. These are some of the guidelines stated.

Here are tips to help you better relate your experience
• Provide some background. What were your reasons for visiting the library? Which library did you visit?
• Describe in tangible ways how you have benefited from using the libraries or from a librarian’s assistance.
• What made your library experience enriching and memorable?
• Finish with your feelings about the library.

My suggestion would be as follows:

Paragraph 1 - Introduction (gives the setting - which library, why, when, who etc)
Paragraph 2 and/or 3 - Description
Last paragraph - Conclusion (remember to include feelings)

Let's do our best for the project. Who knows what might happen?

Prefects' Investiture

The prefects were formally appointed today by Mr Tan. They were given their symbol of office, the prefect tie. They also had to recite the prefects' pledge.

We are proud to present the following prefects from our class:

Syafiq
Nurshafik
Taufiq
Nurhan
Vicente

Congratulations to them! They will do their best as prefects.

Founder's Day

Today, the cadet scouts celebrate founder's day while the brownies celebrate thinking day. These are two of the many CCAs that are offered in school. Scouts and brownies are the only ones that wear uniform. They have fun games, sing songs, attend camps and do many other fun activities. In fact, there will be a camp and campfire this March. : )

Its a moo moo day

Moo... moo... It's a milky day! Kids Central came to our school today to promote Marigold HL milk. There was a short skit with some exercise and there was also free banana milk. This is the first time I have tasted banana milk. It tasted quite errm... special.

Anyone like to comment?

Total Defence Day

Today, Singapore commemorates Total Defence Day. We are reminded of the five aspects of total defence, namely, social, economic, military, pyschological and civil. A school emergency exercise was also held to familiarize the students with the drill. It was a fairly smooth exercise. The civil defence siren was also sounded at 12.05pm today.

I know I can... I know I can... I know I can

Today marks the start of Total Defence Week. Total Defence Day will be observed this Wednesday, 15th February 2006. There was a short skit today about some trains. Hmm... Can anyone share what the moral of the story is?

HPB Visit

The class visited the HPB (Health Promotion Board) today as part of their health education lesson. There was two parts to the visit, a talk and an exhibition. The boys went for the talk before viewing the exhibitions and playing at the huge indoor playground. The girls did the opposite.

The exhibition was very informative. There were many stations which provided important and valuable information. The class enjoyed the trip very much!

Line Dancing

Today, the class led the school in a "dancercise" in the hall before pledge taking. They came wonderfully dressed for the occasion. The dance was well received by the students in the hall and they were dancing away happily.

A job well done! Can we expect another performance? Hmm...

The teachers had a little "lo hei" after the meeting. Have a look at the video above. This video clip was done by Mr. Nicholas Koh. :)

Febies and lots of blogs

Today, the class celebrated the birthday of the "febies". Najiy seems to have some trouble blowing out the candle. He managed to blow it out after quite a while. I never knew blowing out a candle needed so much work. :P

The students also had a chance to create their own blogs and some have already started posting in their blogs. I am sure we are all looking forward to reading all the blogs. Meanwhile, the weekend is here. It's time to relax and recharge for the coming week. Let's not forget the trip to HPB next Thursday! :)
